PakScholars Team. ************** Message from Dr. Amir Hayat
Dear Brothers and Sisters, Salaam
Jazak Allah Khair to all of you for expressing your affection and for sending your warm regards. Even simple tasks can become difficult without the help from others, let alone doing Ph.D. God gave me the courage to take-up this task, and provided me with mental and physical abilities to bring it to its end so I am thankful to Him. Having said that, I certainly could not have braved this task without the support of my family, friends and colleagues who were there to assist me whenever I needed their help, Thanks to all of them.
I am sure that such encouraging news will keep appearing on this and similar mailing lists and the number of researchers will keep increasing. I hope and pray that togather we can make a difference in the educatin and research environment in Pakistan. Getting PhD degree is just the begining of research career, it is similar to telling someone that 'you are now ready for doing research, go ahead and get started'. It is a significant milestone, but there is a long way to go and this aspect has to be kept in mind.
I will be leaving for Pakistan on the 21st of April Insha Allah but would try to remain in contact through this mailing list. I also hope that the scholars of 1st batch will continue with their efforts in Pakistan as they did in Austria so that we can provide them (scholars of later batches) a platform where they can play an acitve role. Do remember me in your prayers.
Dua Go,
-ah

Message from Dr. Abid Ali Minhas
Asslam-O-Alaikum W' Rahmat Ullah W' Barakat hoo to all Ph.D Scholars from Pakistan.
I would like to say "Thanks" from core of my heart to all those scholars who sent me nice wishes on successful completion of my PhD studies.
Scholars from first batch know that I have been using this prayer in my emails. Thanks to my Allah Al Raheem that the above said prayer is partially accepted and I have completed my Doctoral studies with honor in Electrical Engineering by Graz University of Technology, Graz, Austria. I have used the word "partially" because many PhD scholars are still doing their PhD.
May Allah Al Raheem bless you all here and hereafter.
I wish you all best of luck.
Best regards, Dr. Abid Ali Minhas

Scholars in Austria
Message from Dr. Nawaz
Dear scholars,
Assalamo alaikum, 1st of all i am thank full to Almighty Allah, for the strength He gave me to complete my PhD. It is really all His blessing and nothing else. I am grateful to all the scholars from Vienna, graz, linz and specially Innsbruck for sharing nice feeling with me at this occasion, it is really a precious treasure of my life.i cant forget this love indeed. But i want to make it clear that it is not true that i am more genius or more hard working than others. i deeply feel i am still far away from the depth of science and my subject and this feeling has aggravated since yesterday , it was just my good luck that i found a very cooperative supervisor and right from the 2nd week i came here, i was in lab working directly on my topic that's why it became possible for me to accomplish this task.I pray for all of u a much better achievements in ur studies and thank u once again.

| Web Hosting Contract with Brinkster |
Initially we were using the free domain hosting from Brinkster (www.brinkster.com) . However, it had some drawbacks. The web space was limited, web traffic was limited, no ftp support, it was difficult to create forums etc. But biggest issue was that we could not use our own domain name and we were stuck with this company given domain name. With free service, the company does not allow pointing a domain name to their server.
In order to overcome these deficiencies and to make it scalable, it was proposed that we upgrade to the paid domain hosting. This way we would get rid of all these issues. We can have our own domain name, we will have enough web space, the webtraffic will be more than enough and then we will be able to help our fellow Pakistani brothers in a better way. The issue, however was about the annual payment for the domain registration and hosting fee. It was proposed, on the mailing list, that Scholars may mutually share this cost. Once again the Scholars should their great spirit and within two hours the money was collected. The following Scholars contributed for the web hosting and domain registration.
Basheer Ahmad, Graz
Najam, Innsbruck
Mahmood Saleem, Graz
Khurram Aziz, Vienna
Abid Ali Minhas, Graz
Jamshed Hashim, Graz
Arjumand Durrani, Vienna
Lost stranger (name not known), Innsbruck
Zahid Hussain, Graz
Muhammad Farooq, Graz
Safeeullah Soomro, Graz
Saleh Mohammad, Vienna
Arshad Khaokar, Vienna

| Domain Name registration |
Domain Name:
The idea to have our own domain name for the website for proposed to the scholars. It was suggested that Scholars should propose relevant names and then voting would be conducted to select the best. Scholars showed their enthusiasm and proposed different names with their reasoning behind each proposed domain name. Depending on the availability of the domain names, a list was then complied and a poll was created. Following is the result of the poll.
